Is your home office a pain in the neck...literally?

Editors may spend the entire day sitting at their desks, hunched over a manuscript or staring intently at a computer monitor. And the way they spend their leisure time can be suspiciously similar—sitting down, tapping on a keyboard or swiping a screen.

There is plenty of evidence that prolonged sitting is bad for us, and many of us have learned the hard way that we need to make changes in the way we go about our daily activities. In this presentation, Dr. Tammy Bohné has adapted her program POSTURE FOR THE SPINEBODYSOUL specifically for freelance editors. Learn how to bring new awareness to your routines, to help maintain a healthy spine—and a healthy life. Dr. Bohné will cover:

  • the anatomy of posture: spinal alignment, the body systems, and energy as they relate to posture.
  • the relationship between posture and dis-ease—in particular, the little-known effects of forward flexion on our health.
  • just what is good posture? (Hint: it's not about pulling our shoulders back!)
  • posture types and how knowing our type can help us understand our specific postural challenges and how to manage them.
  • the CORE of proper posture: the core muscles and how to stand, sit and sleep properly.
  • setting up our environments for good posture—workstations, computers, and ergonomics in general, with a focus on the home office.
  • stretches to prevent tech-neck.
  • carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive stress injuries.
  • posture for the spine/body/soul: posture tips and tricks to go from flexion to correction for good posture and great health!
